Increase Your Affiliate Income
I recently read that normal visit to sales ratio for affiliate products can be as low as 1-2%. You can improve these odds if you take a strategic approach. When buyers are considering an online purchase, they will often search for Internet reviews. If you want to increase your affiliate income, give them quality content!
Ways to increase your success rate with affiliate programs:
- Be sure your target market is ideal for the product. You’re only wasting your time if you don’t follow this advice.
- Add credibility by only recommending products or services that you have used or are sure to be a good choice for your audience.
- Add compelling sales copy. Simply copying and pasting the information provided on the affiliate website can be considered duplicate content and can result in the page being banned from major search engines. Consider writing an article or tutorial about the affiliate product or service and posting it on your website. Also place the article on your blog including links to other relative articles. The extra time you spend can really pay off in the end.
- Show that the value is equal or better than the expense. If you take the time to write good copy as mentioned above, this should be included.
- Use SEO techniques to bring readers to your affiliate product pages. You can have a main page that links (using the actual product name) to your descriptive article that resides on a page of it’s own with a more generic page title. Here you can link directly to the affiliate company’s website.
These are just a few ideas to help increase your affiliate income. John Karnish of the Internet Marketing Professional website has an abundance of articles on this and other online marketing topics.

Thanks for this great post, Melanie. I particularly support the tip about adding compelling sales copy as this can make all the difference in taking an interested browser that extra step to becoming a purchaser. It also encompasses the tip on demonstrating that the value is well and truly there.
Well done.

I’m glad you agree. I realize this wasn’t exactly news for a copy writer, but I hope you’ll check out the article archives mentioned as Mr. Karnish has a lot of great info to consider for both sides of affiliate marketing.
